The Top Destinations to Have on Your Bucket List

Bucket lists are now more popular than ever. Creating a list of all the places you want to see and things you want to experience before you die is a great way to ensure you make the most of your life. Some people make a bucket list as they get older, while others may create this early in life and work on it for years.

Regardless of when or why you create a bucket list, when it comes to amazing places to travel to, there are a few locations that should make it on everyone’s list. From an African safari to a western Caribbean cruise, keep reading for some great ideas for your own bucket list.

    Machu Picchu, Peru

If you have ever seen a picture of Peru’s Machu Picchu, chances are you will want to take off and visit right away. The picturesque craggy peaks, amazing stone ruins, and vibrant green grass are something right out of a storybook.

In the past, this historic landmark was an Inca city, and today it is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. These are just a few of the reasons it shows up at the top of so many people’s bucket lists. Because of this, Machu Picchu is now one of the most frequented tourist attractions in all of Peru. If you plan to visit, make sure you plan carefully as you can only enter two times per day. You will have to hike up to the entrance by way of the Inca Trail or take a bus to Aguas Calientes.

    Destinations Bucket List

    The Amazon Rainforest, Brazil

There’s nothing quite like drifting down the Amazon River. Besides an amazing view of the Amazon Rainforest, full of wildlife and beauty, you will also be able to experience something few people have. Monkeys swing from vines above, while turtles and snakes can be seen in the water below. If you are patient enough, you may even catch a glimpse of a jaguar.

If the Amazon River is on your bucket list, you must board a boat at Manaus and travel to Encontro das Aguas. At this point, you can join your scheduled boat tour to drift into the heart of the Amazon rain forest.

When it comes to getting lost in nature, there’s nothing like the Amazon. Often called the “planet’s lungs,” the rainforest is responsible for creating up to 20% of the oxygen on the planet.

Iceland to Experience the Northern Lights

One of the most amazing experiences in life is witnessing the aurora borealis first-hand. It won’t matter if you get to enjoy the subtle green glow or the rarer crimson lines; this is a light show you won’t ever forget. However, if you really want to see them, you must exercise patience. The northern lights are unpredictable, just like the weather, which means you should plan to spend a few days in the area.

Your best shot at seeing the northern lights is in Iceland. Try visiting between mid-October and the early months of April if possible.

    New York, U.S.

There’s no question that everyone should visit the “Big Apple” at some point. Here you can experience an array of interesting and diverse attractions, which is one reason so many people keep coming back to this city.

It doesn’t matter what you enjoy, New York offers a little bit of everything. From shopping and dancing to eating, nightlife and more, this is one city you should visit at some point in your life. Be sure to take in a show on Broadway, too, as this is something that many people will never get to experience in their lives.

If you are ready to make your bucket list, be sure the destinations listed here are somewhere on it. You won’t regret visiting these amazing locations and experiencing all they have to offer. It will be something fun you can do with friends, family members, or on your own.
