Hairy Back Causes and How to Treat Them

It’s that time of year where we all prepare for the beach months ahead. We have a diet, we have a workout routine, we have cool board shorts, we have everything lined up. There are, of course, a few things that we might have to consider before going to the beach.

Let’s take back hair for instance. Back hair is completely normal and fine in almost every single circumstance. But if you’re trying to get your tan on by the shore, back hair might be a bit of a hitch. As you may know, shaving a back is not like shaving a beard – unless you’re a contortionist.

Here, we’re going to explore the reasons why people grow more back hair than others, as well as what you can do now to lessen it.

    Genetics

The most common reason as to why one gets back hair is genetics. Genetics may seem like a catchall for the things that we personally can’t control, aesthetics wise, but when it comes to things like hair growth it really is a trait that’s passed down.

Some individuals from certain regions have hair follicle receptors that are more likely to grow in response to testosterone. It’s the same compound that causes eventual balding. There are back hair removal options for everyone, but know that unless you see a professional, it can grow back.

Our DNA is quite stubborn in that fashion. We tend to have a baseline aesthetic called a “phenotype” and our body tends to go back to it.

    Hormone Imbalance

Another reason for a hairy back, is a sudden shift and hormones. For those that have Cushing’s syndrome, or women with polycystic ovary syndrome, back hair is a bit of a common complication. In these instances, usually the answer is hormone therapy. Once one’s internal switches are back in order, usually the unwanted back hair growth stops.

This, of course, may not be true with everyone. In that case, other treatment options and hair removal options may have to be considered. But, if the appearance of the said Harry back is a new and fairly light development, hormone therapy tends to work.

    Age

Age is another factor in hair growth. As we get older, we tend to lose the hair on her head. We start getting hair in other places like our back, out of our nose, out of my ears, etc. This is due to your hair follicles’s sensitivity to dihydrotestosterone.

Dihydrotestosterone sensitivity is, once again, passed down genetically. It may not be seen at an earlier age, though. If you know any of your grandparents and they have a hairy back, there’s a chance it might get down to you.

Whether it’s hormone treatment or expert back hair removal, there are always options available. It all depends on your comfort level, and medical background. If you really want a more permanent solution, than expert back hair removal is the way to go.

After all, not many of us have the time, patience, our personnel to shave our backs every day.
