Our friend Steve Boulding recently received the unique smelling beard oils from National Beard Company. Read his review on these organic natural beard oils here.

National Beard Company – Founded by two friends Thomas & Daniel who met by coincidence at Boy Scout camp, where their love for computer gaming and riding bikes combined. As time went on and they grew older, they found another thing they had in common – their love of beards. Thomas wanted to grow an epic beard (which he’s achieved) but Daniel wanted to keep his trimmed. They had the idea to start their own beard oil company which would help them both maintain healthy and soft facial hair.

Both of them are keen to use only natural oils and state that their product is 98% organic, a strong USP in today’s saturated market. They only started making their oils in 2014 but have created 6 unique beards oils, working tirelessly with ingredients and trials. Not only did they want a great oil, they wanted one that would last throughout the day.

For the purpose of this review, I will be focusing on their Lemon Zest oil which consists of Organic Argan Oil, Organic Jojoba Oil and also their top-selling Tea Tree Mint Oil. I must admit I’m more of a traditionalist when it comes to scents so I thought I would dislike these two straight away! How wrong I was. When I opened up the lemon zest, the citrusy scent filled up my senses with a fresh and clean fragrance. Straight away I said to myself “this is definitely a morning oil”, for those mornings when you need perking up the with a vibrant and cooling aroma. I then opened the Tea Tree Mint oil which also gave off a beautiful aroma, it didn’t just fill my nostrils but the space around me (even my partner who was stood a few feet away commented on it – “that smells fresh”. You can really smell the mint coming through, it has a natural odour and you can definitely feel those natural ingredients.

Now let’s talk about what’s inside the most important thing – the oil itself. I found that each of the oils had a smooth consistency but sometimes struggle to come out of the small hole at the top of the bottle. The oil felt natural and moisturising when warming in my hands, giving off those great scents when I started to rub it into my beard. Each oil easily covers the beard from root to tip, a quick comb through leaves your beard feeling soft and smelling delicious. As previously mentioned, I wasn’t a big fan of these kinds of scents but these two oils have opened my eyes to the variety of scents available.

If you’re after a strong scented oil then this might just be for you – retailing at only $24.99 for a 30ml bottle or six their scents for $99.99, it is definitely worth the money. They have some unique scents to choose from, let me know your favourite.

    1. Thank you for the warm review! I’m happy you tried two scents that were a little out of your comfort zone – and ended up liking them. The best way to get the oil out of the bottle is to simply invert the bottle. It takes about 4 seconds for the oil to start dripping out at a rate of 1 drip a second. No shaking required. Thanks again for reviewing!
