We take a look at some of the greatest beards in this years Rugby World Cup. Some of the biggest men in world rugby have gathered to try and win the trophy.
Rugby World Cup 2015 – We have already seen one of the biggest shocks in rugby history as Japan narrowly beat South Africa with the last kick of the game. We are hoping that these men don’t have such a close shave! From Romania to Scotland, these are some of the best beards we have seen in the sporting tournament so far!
TheBeardMag look at some of the bushiest and best –
Geoff Cross (Scotland)
A Scottish rugby union player who plays prop at tight-head for London Irish and Scotland. One of the bushiest beards in rugby, it is just a shame that he recently shaved it all off!
Raymond “Ray” Barkwill (Canada)
A Canadian rugby union player who currently plays for the Ontario Blues and the Canada national rugby union team. He might now have hair on his head but he makes up for it with some fantastic facial fuzz.
Gordon William D’Arcy (Ireland)
An Irish rugby player, more specifically an inside centre. He is registered to Lansdowne RFC and plays for provincial and RaboDirect Pro12 side Leinster. A fine ginger Irish beard, who doesn’t love them?
Viorel Lucaci (Romania)
A Romanian rugby union player. He plays in the flanker and occasionally lock position for amateur SuperLiga club Steaua and București based European Challenge Cup side the Wolves. Only a small beard but Viorel represents Romania and their beard culture.
Hubert Buydens (Canada)
A Canadaian rugby union player. He is a member of the Canada national side and was part of Canada’s squad at the 2011 Rugby World Cup. One of the most famous beards in rugby and a fan favourite!
Joe Marler (England)
A rugby union player for Harlequins in the Aviva Premiership playing primarily as a Prop. At the start of his Harlequins career he was sent out on loan to Esher and Worthing for a season each. Representing our home nation, a fine bushy beard with mohawk to match.
Josh Strauss (South Africa)
A South African-born Scottish rugby union footballer. His regular playing position is either flanker or eighthman. He has captained the Lions in Super Rugby and the Golden Lions in the Currie Cup. In our eyes, his beard is the perfect length, colour and density.
